CS2 Float and Trade-Up Calculator
Enter your input skins’ floats and ranges plus the float range of the skin you want — the calculator shows the output float and wear.
How we calculate
Float is a number from 0 to 1 that sets a skin’s wear: below 0.07 is Factory New, below 0.15 Minimal Wear, below 0.38 Field-Tested, below 0.45 Well-Worn, and the rest Battle-Scarred. Each skin has its own float range: some can’t be newer than 0.06 or more worn than 0.80.
The game currently works out a contract like this: each input float is converted into a share of that skin’s own range (0 is the newest possible, 1 the most worn), those shares are averaged, and the average is mapped onto the output skin’s range. So 0.15 on a skin with a 0.10 minimum is close to the best possible float, not a middling one.
A regular contract takes 10 skins of the same grade. Since October 22, 2025 you can also trade 5 red (Covert) skins for a knife or gloves. The float formula is the same: the calculator uses however many inputs you fill in. Check skin float ranges on the skin’s inventory or market page.

Questions and answers
How do I get Factory New from a trade-up?
The average share of range across all inputs has to be low enough for the output float to fall below 0.07. The table at the bottom shows that limit for the output skin you entered.
Has the formula changed?
Yes. The game used to average the raw floats and ignored the input skins’ ranges. Now each float is first converted into a share of its own skin’s range, so older calculators give wrong results.
Does this work for knife trade-ups?
Yes, the float formula is the same. Only the number of inputs differs: 5 red skins instead of 10, and the result is a knife or gloves from those skins’ collections.
Where do I find a skin’s min and max float?
Skin pages on market sites and skin databases list them. If no range is given, the skin uses the full 0 to 1 range.
