2026 fishing games: How to Fish leads all 104 releases
Contents
We pulled all 596 games in the Steam Fishing tag catalogue and filtered for 2026 releases. There are 104 of them, and How to Fish leads on review count by a wide margin.
First, what exactly is being counted
This is not the game’s total review count. The Steam catalogue shows reviews in your interface language and from Steam purchases only. We read the catalogue in English, so 15,660 means English-language, Steam-purchase reviews. The global figure for How to Fish on the same day is 43,902. We compare all 104 games on the same metric read at the same moment — anything else would be an unfair comparison.
Also note that Steam’s sort_by=Reviews_DESC sorts by review score, not by
count. The ordering below is therefore our own re-sort of all 596 rows.

| 3 | NTE: Neverness to Everness | 2,572 | 83% | 7 July |

How to Fish leads second place by 4.63×. The whole 2026 cohort has 49,040 reviews between them, and How to Fish accounts for 31.9% of that — nearly a third of every fishing-release review this year, from a game that launched on 20 August, 11 days before we took this reading.
One more detail from the table: How to Fish has not only the most reviews but also the highest positive share in the top 8, at 95%. The closest on score is Fishing Inc at 91%, with 8.8× fewer reviews.
The Quinfall: second by count, last by score
Second place goes to a game with 52% positive reviews. That is exactly why review count on its own means nothing — a game can accumulate reviews on a wave of disappointment. On Steam, 52% is the “Mixed” band.
How many fishing games ship per year
2026 (eight months) — 104 · 2025 — 144 · 2024 — 103 · 2023 — 68 · 2022 — 41 · 2021 — 44.
The 2026 row covers eight months of twelve. At this rate the year will land roughly where 2025 did. The fishing genre is not growing explosively: Steam has been getting about a hundred such releases a year for three years running.
What we are not claiming
We did not count sales or revenue — Steam does not publish them, and review count is not a fixed fraction of sales. Nor do we claim these 104 are every fishing game of 2026: it is what the Fishing tag query returned, and tags are applied by developers and players, so some fishing games simply are not in it. Finally, this snapshot is dated 31 August 2026.
