How to Fish on Consoles and Mac: What Is Confirmed

This is the most frequently asked question about the game, and it has a direct answer from the developers themselves — not a rumour, not a forum guess.

What the official FAQ says

The Dazed Games website has a frequently asked questions section. The entry about consoles and Mac is short: yes, they are planned — but they do not know when yet.

Two separate facts are worth pulling apart here:

  • The intent is confirmed. It is not a vague maybe, it is a plain yes from the studio.
  • There is no date. No window, no quarter, and no platform named individually. Neither PlayStation, nor Xbox, nor Nintendo appears in the text by name.

So any site currently claiming a specific How to Fish console release date is inventing it. We do not have that information and we will not pretend to.

What works right now

Platform Status
Windows ✅ the only official build
macOS ❌ no build
Linux ❌ no build
PlayStation 5 ❌ not released, stated as planned
Xbox Series X|S ❌ not released, stated as planned

The minimum requirements are modest: Windows 10 x64, an Intel Core i5-5257U or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 class CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 460 class GPU, and just 1 GB of disk space. The developers left the recommended requirements block empty.

Why a port is realistic but not fast

The game is built in Unity, which the developer confirmed in the devlog early in the project. Unity officially builds for macOS and for every current console, so there is no technical dead end here.

There are two practical brakes:

  1. Team size. Dazed Games is two programmers, as they wrote themselves in the devlog. A console port is not just a build: it is certification with Sony and Microsoft, controller guideline compliance, separate saves and separate achievements.
  2. Online. The game has co-op for up to eight players. Cross-platform online between Steam and consoles is a separate body of work, and no official text mentions it at all.

What to do today

If you own a Mac or a console and want to play now, there is no official way. We do not recommend emulators or unofficial compatibility layers: nobody has guaranteed how multiplayer and anti-cheat behave there, and the money you spend on the purchase is real.

The smarter plan is to follow the studio’s official channels: the website, Discord, and the Bluesky devlog. Every verified fact about this game surfaced there first, and that is where a port will be announced once there is something to announce.
