Crafting Calculator
Find an item, enter how many you need, and get the raw material list and the crafting order.
How we calculate
The calculator takes the item’s recipe and keeps breaking each ingredient down until it reaches raw materials: logs, cobblestone, ingots, diamonds, wheat and so on. Planks turn into logs, sticks into planks, and a netherite pickaxe into a diamond pickaxe, a netherite ingot and an upgrade template.
Crafting always gives whole amounts: two planks make 4 sticks, for example. So the calculator first adds up the total need for every intermediate item and only then rounds up to whole crafts, showing what will be left over. An asterisk next to an ingredient means another variant works too — planks from any wood, the other kind of coal and so on.
Ingots, glass and stone count as raw materials because they come from smelting; dyes because they come from various flowers; white wool because you shear it from sheep. Recipes come from the 26.3 game data; when an item has several recipes, the main one is used.

Questions and answers
How many logs does a chest take?
Two. A chest is 8 planks, and one log gives 4 planks. Six logs are enough for three chests.
Why doesn’t the calculator break ingots down into ore?
Ingots come from smelting, not crafting, so that is a separate step. The furnace calculator works out the time and fuel it takes.
What does the asterisk next to an ingredient mean?
That the recipe accepts several variants: planks from any wood, cobblestone or cobbled deepslate, coal or charcoal. The calculator shows the most common one, but any of them works.
Which version are the recipes for?
Java Edition 26.3: recipes for all 956 items come from that version’s game data. Some recipes differ in Bedrock Edition.
