Filtered Chat by Default
Filtered chat is the standard for all permitted communication on the platform. It blocks:
- Offensive content — profanity, harassment, discriminatory language.
- Attempts to post personal information — phone numbers, addresses, social media handles.
- Instructions for leaving the platform — calls to move to third-party chats or apps.
Extra Filtering for Younger Users
For players 12 and under, not just chat but posts are filtered too — specifically so personal information the child might accidentally share publicly doesn’t slip through.
Voice Chat and Trusted Friends
Voice chat and unfiltered communication in Friends Chat are only available to “trusted friends” — a separate category of contacts with a confirmed connection, not just anyone on a friends list.
Games That Allow Profanity
Some games carry a Restricted tag and allow profanity in text and voice. Access to them is limited to users who have passed age verification for 18+. But even in those games, the language still can’t harass, discriminate, or carry sexual context — that restriction applies always, regardless of the game’s tag.
Privacy and Reporting
Account owners can restrict who can message them, invite them to private servers, or follow them — these settings are available in the profile. Violations can be reported through the Report Abuse system anywhere in the app or a game, including in chat and on a specific player’s profile.
