How we calculate
The countdown runs to 19 November 2026, the date Rockstar announced on Newswire. It is not hard-coded into the timer: the page reads it from the same variable as the rest of the site, so a delay is fixed in one place instead of ten.
Rockstar gave no hour. We deliberately take 00:00 New York time as zero: that is the moment the PlayStation game card returns for the US storefront, and it is also the earliest midnight among the major markets. This is an engineering choice, not a fact from the publisher — which is why it is spelled out right under the timer.
If the date moves, the timer recalculates itself as soon as the release date changes on the site. Reaching zero is NOT treated as proof that the game shipped: switching to the "released" state is done by hand once the launch is confirmed.

What time will the game unlock?
Not announced. Rockstar gave the date only. This timer counts to 00:00 New York time and says so openly; in your own time zone the unlock moment may differ.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
A PC version has not been announced. Only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were named for launch, with no separate PC date from Rockstar.
Why does this timer differ from another site?
Because there is no official hour, so every site picks its own zero: some use midnight UTC, others local midnight. A few hours of difference means different baselines, not broken arithmetic.
Has the date been delayed before?
Yes, twice. That is why the timer shows the date that was current at the last data check, not the one from the first announcements.
