How to Fish is a game about playing together: the tags Multiplayer (283 votes) and Online Co-Op (257) sit at the top of its list. So “where is the community” is a real question here.

Where things happen

place what is there size
Steam community hub discussions, screenshots, player guides 103,040 in-game, 250 in group chat
Discord the official bug-report channel we did not measure the member count
Studio YouTube channel 15 videos 90,820 views in total

Bluesky development devlog 11 posts in our sample

The headline number and what it means

At the moment of our reading on 31 August 2026, the Steam community hub showed 103,040 players in-game — and just 250 in the group chat. That is not a contradiction: the Steam group chat is a narrow tool, and even in big games only a fraction of a percent uses it.

There is a more interesting contrast next to it. The studio’s official X profile has 320 followers and 53 posts. That means the studio has roughly three times fewer followers than the number of people who launched its game right now. This is a typical picture for an indie that broke out faster than its social audience grew.

Where to report a bug

The studio’s official answer in the dazed.games FAQ is Discord. Not the Steam discussions, not email. The address [email protected] exists, but as a general contact.

Discord invite: https://discord.gg/N9bfGzNP4J.

Streaming and monetising is allowed

The studio FAQ explicitly allows recording, streaming and monetising video of the game. That matters if you run a channel: you do not need to ask for separate permission.

The same FAQ carries two less welcome answers: the studio does not hand out free keys, and it is not hiring at the moment.

What the game does not offer the community

Steam feature present in How to Fish
Steam Achievements yes, 28 of them
Family Sharing yes
Steam Workshop (mods) no
Trading cards no
Leaderboards no
Remote Play no

The practical takeaway from that table: there will be no mods — Workshop is not enabled, and without it the community has no built-in way to share content. There are no trading cards either, so there is no market activity around the game.

What we could not measure

The hub’s discussions and thread list are loaded by scripts. We read only two numbers off the page — “103,040 In-Game” and “250 in Group Chat”. How many threads, guides or screenshots the hub holds is something we did not count and do not quote.

We likewise did not measure the Discord member count: the invite page shows it only in a browser, and we did not obtain that figure through a channel we could reproduce. That is why the table above says an honest “not measured” rather than an eyeball estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I report a bug in How to Fish?

On Discord — that is the studio's official answer in the dazed.games FAQ. Invite: https://discord.gg/N9bfGzNP4J

Can I stream and monetise How to Fish?

Yes. The studio FAQ explicitly allows recording, streaming and monetising video of the game.

Will there be mods for How to Fish?

There is no built-in way: Steam Workshop is not enabled for the game. We do not know the studio's plans regarding mods.

How many people are in the game's Discord?

We did not measure that. The invite page shows the number only in a browser, so we quote no estimate.
