GTA 6 pre-orders are open, and there are exactly two dates in them that affect your money: 20 November, the bonus cut-off, and 12 November, when preloading starts. Everything else you can decide at your leisure.
What follows is only what the Rockstar and PlayStation pages actually say, with a clear marker of where their words end and our arithmetic begins.
What it costs
Prices measured on 13 August 2026 directly in the stores.
| Store | Standard | Ultimate |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store US | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| PlayStation Store Poland | 349 zl | 429 zl |
| PlayStation Store Ukraine | UAH 3,499 | UAH 4,299 |
| Rockstar Store, physical edition | $79.99 | — |
What each edition contains, per the PS Store pages:
- Standard — the game, the Vintage Vice City Pack, one month of GTA+;
- Ultimate — all of that plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade with exclusive in-game extras.
A full breakdown of what the upgrade actually gives you, and whether the $20 difference earns its keep, is in our pieces on the Ultimate Edition and on the price of GTA 6.
The bonus deadline, where the store contradicts itself
Pre-ordering gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack and a month of GTA+. But the deadline appears twice on the same page, and the two do not match:
- Rockstar Store: order before 20 November, with an asterisk for while supplies last;
- PS Store, the same promotional line: purchase prior to 20 November;
- PS Store, the legal block further down: offer ends November 19th 2026.
We are not going to merge those lines or decide on the store’s behalf which one governs. The practical conclusion is simple: treat 19 November as the deadline. Beat the earlier of the two dates and the question disappears.
Preloading starts 12 November
Rockstar gives 12 November 2026 as the preload date, a week ahead of launch. That matters for two reasons.
First, the start of preloading is normally when the exact install size becomes public — a number that officially does not exist yet (we covered that in how big GTA 6 will be). Second, it is the real deadline for anyone who wants to play from minute one: downloading well over a hundred gigabytes on launch day, at the same moment as everybody else, is a bad plan.
⚠️ Why the store says 18 November
This is the single most common source of panic, so it gets its own section.
The game’s storefront card shows a date that does not match the release:
| Storefront | What it shows |
|---|---|
| PS Store US | 11/19/2026 12:00 AM EST |
| PS Store Poland | 18.11.2026 06:00 PM EST |
| PS Store Ukraine | 18.11.2026 05:00 PM EST |
⚠️ What follows is our arithmetic, not a statement from Rockstar or Sony. EST is UTC−5, so:
- 18 Nov, 17:00 EST = 18 Nov, 22:00 UTC = 19 Nov, 00:00 in Kyiv (Ukraine runs on UTC+2 in November);
- 18 Nov, 18:00 EST = 18 Nov, 23:00 UTC = 19 Nov, 00:00 in Warsaw (UTC+1);
- 19 Nov, 00:00 EST = midnight on 19 November in US Eastern time.
In other words, all three stamps are exactly midnight on 19 November in the storefront’s own local time. The 18 November label appears purely because the timestamp has been converted into a US timezone. The release itself remains confirmed for 19 November — see our piece on the release date.
Rockstar has not published a separate region-by-region unlock schedule, so this is our reading of the store’s label rather than confirmation of it.
The physical edition is a box with no disc
Rockstar could hardly have been blunter here: physical versions will contain only a download code inside the box, and no disc. They give the reason themselves — so that box buyers can start preloading on 12 November too.
The Rockstar Store price for that box is $79.99, with estimated shipping also on 12 November 2026.
In practice this means three things: you cannot resell or lend the game, you cannot install it without an internet connection, and the box carries no technical advantage whatsoever over a digital purchase. Buy it for the box on your shelf, if that is what you want — not for anything it does.
⚠️ Code regions: where cheap-key buyers lose money
This is not about the pre-order button in your own store. It is about buying a code from a third-party seller — and that is where the money goes every year.
Rockstar ties code redemption to the region attached to your platform account. For PlayStation it publishes a country list grouped into buckets: North America, United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, Brazil, LATAM, Saudi Arabia and UAE, Rest of Asia — and a large Rest of EMEA and Asia bucket holding Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Australia and roughly two dozen more.
- A code sold for one bucket is not intended for an account in another. A cheap UK or US key on an EU account is a risk, not a saving.
- On Xbox, codes are not region-locked, so the restriction does not apply.
- For Japan, Rockstar notes separately that codes expire 170 days after issue because of local regulation.
We are summarising a published list, not vouching for any seller. If you buy from a reseller, ask outright which region the key was issued for. More on this, and on clearing space in time, in our preload guide.
The free month of GTA+ and its three conditions
The month of subscription bundled with a pre-order comes with conditions, and they live in the legal block rather than in the promotional text:
- It must be redeemed by 31 March 2027. Miss that and the month is gone.
- After the free month the subscription auto-renews at the regular monthly price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time — but continuing is the default, not stopping.
- One redemption per account, regardless of how many copies you buy, and it is non-transferable.
What the subscription actually gives you, and whether it is worth keeping past the free month, is covered separately in our GTA+ guide.
You can upgrade to Ultimate later
Rockstar says you can move up to the Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation Store at any time — the upgrade exists as its own add-on. So the Standard-versus- Ultimate decision is not final and does not have to be made today: you get the base game plus the pre-order bonus either way.
What we still do not know
The gaps, stated honestly, because they are worth keeping in mind:
- the exact install size — not published, expected closer to 12 November;
- which countries the Rockstar Store ships physical boxes to — the question is listed among the common ones on their page, but the answer is collapsed there, and we are not going to invent it;
- whether pre-orders will open on the Xbox Store in every region, and at what price — there are no figures we could verify right now. On the platforms themselves, see our overview.
The age rating is still provisional too: the ESRB lists the game as rating pending, likely Mature, and PEGI as a provisional 18.
What to do now
- Decide whether you need a pre-order at all. The game does not leave the shelves on 20 November — only the bonus does.
- If you do want it, be done by 19 November. That is the earlier of the two dates the store gives, and it settles the deadline question entirely.
- Remember that PS Store charges immediately. This is not a reservation you pay for later: the store states outright that a pre-order requires immediate payment.
- Set a reminder for 12 November — preload day, and the day we finally learn how big the game is.
- Set a second reminder for the end of the free GTA+ month, unless you plan to keep the subscription.
The summary in one sentence
Pre-orders are open at $79.99 for the Standard Edition, the bonus needs claiming by 19 November, preloading starts on 12 November — and the physical box holds nothing but a code, so it has no advantage over buying digitally.
Frequently asked questions
Are GTA 6 pre-orders open?
Yes. You can pre-order on both the Rockstar Store and the PlayStation Store. On PS Store the money is taken straight away rather than on release day — the store warns about this on its own line.
How much does a GTA 6 pre-order cost?
On the US PlayStation Store as of 13 August 2026: Standard Edition is $79.99 and Ultimate Edition is $99.99. Store prices change, so check the current one before you buy.
What do you get for pre-ordering?
The Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. Rockstar says to order before 20 November, while another block on the same page says the offer ends on 19 November 2026. The safe reading is to be done by 19 November.
When does GTA 6 preloading start?
Rockstar gives 12 November 2026, a week before release. That is normally when the exact install size becomes known too.
Why does the store show 18 November instead of 19 November?
PS Store displays the unlock moment converted into the EST timezone. On the Ukrainian storefront that reads 18.11.2026 05:00 PM EST, which is exactly midnight on 19 November in Kyiv.
Does the physical edition include a disc?
No. Rockstar states plainly that the box contains only a download code and that no disc is included. The reason they give is so that box buyers can start preloading on 12 November as well.
Can I buy Standard now and Ultimate later?
Yes. Rockstar says you can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation Store at any time, through a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade add-on.
