Updated 28 August 2026. The show has already aired — this piece stays as the schedule announcement. The summary is in our breakdown. Rockstar has scheduled the first substantial material about GTA 6 since the second trailer. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on 27 August 2026 — on Netflix first, then six hours later on YouTube and the game’s own site.

The announcement went up on the Rockstar Newswire on 6 August. Below are the exact times in your zone and an honest account of what the announcement does and does not contain.

Updated August 27: today is show day

We checked both official sources on the morning of August 27 — the Rockstar Newswire announcement and the Netflix page for the show. Nothing has changed: same times, same platforms, same release date.

Three things worth knowing before the evening:

  1. The runtime has not been stated officially. Neither the Rockstar announcement nor the Netflix page gives a length — we looked at both pages today. The numbers already circulating in the press do not come from Rockstar, so we are not repeating them.
  2. The show is listed on Netflix — the page opens at netflix.com/GTAVI. An active subscription is required.
  3. The release date has not changed. Rockstar addressed this separately — here is our breakdown of the statement.

No subscription is no problem. The same material goes up on the Rockstar YouTube channel for free, at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.

Exact times

Rockstar gave the times in US Eastern. Converted:

Venue ET PT UK UTC
Netflix 27 Aug, 3:00pm 27 Aug, 12:00pm 27 Aug, 8:00pm 27 Aug, 19:00
YouTube + game site 27 Aug, 9:00pm 27 Aug, 6:00pm 28 Aug, 2:00am 28 Aug, 01:00

Note the second row: in the UK that is already the small hours of 28 August, not the evening of the 27th. The gap between the two showings is exactly six hours. If you are outside these zones, convert from the UTC column.

Where to watch

  • Netflix — the premiere, at netflix.com/GTAVI. Subscription required.
  • Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel — six hours later, free to all.
  • The official game site rockstargames.com/VI — at the same time as YouTube.

So if you do not have Netflix, you lose nothing but the wait.

What will actually be shown — Rockstar has not said

This matters, because this is where the wave of invented “insider” claims will start. The official post is two paragraphs: the first names the date, the times and the three venues; the second repeats the release date and links to pre-orders. That is all.

What the announcement does not contain:

  • the duration of the showing;
  • the format — gameplay, a cinematic piece, or something else;
  • a list of topics — map, mechanics, characters, a PC date;
  • any promise to show the map. That is the most anticipated item, and Rockstar did not offer it.

The title “An Extended Look” is the only hint at scale. Any claim about a specific runtime or a specific line-up has no official source right now.

Why this is an event

Rockstar has shown GTA 6 three times: two trailers (the second one on 6 May 2025) and a set of screenshots on the game’s site. Everything we know about Leonida comes from there.

The 27 August showing is the first material Rockstar has itself called extended, and the last major information beat before the 19 November launch. After it, the map of what to expect gets considerably sharper.

What is already confirmed officially

  • Release: 19 November 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
  • PC version: not announced
  • Pre-orders: open since 25 June 2026

More detail in our pieces on the release date, price and pre-orders and on what Rockstar has shown of the map.

The show has aired — where to read the breakdown

The showing went out at the time listed here: the official video appeared on Rockstar’s YouTube channel at 9:00pm ET on 27 August 2026, which is the small hours of 28 August in Europe. What the company confirmed in writing, and what the show did not contain, is in our breakdown. Our map, platforms, characters, story and rumours pieces were updated the same day — and only with what appears in Rockstar’s own written texts.

Frequently asked questions

What time is the Extended Look?

The Netflix premiere is 27 August at 3:00pm ET (12:00pm PT, 8:00pm UK, 19:00 UTC). The version on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official game site arrives six hours later, at 9:00pm ET on 27 August (01:00 UTC on 28 August).

Can I watch it for free?

Yes, but later. Netflix is a subscription service; the version on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official game site goes live six hours after the premiere and is open to everyone.

What exactly will be shown?

Rockstar has not said. The official post carries only the title 'An Extended Look', the date, the times and the three venues — no duration and no list of what the material contains.

Will they show the map of Leonida?

Unknown. Rockstar has promised nothing about the map — the announcement does not mention it once. Rockstar has never published an official image of the Leonida map, so this is the most anticipated item but not a confirmed one.

Does this mean the release is being delayed?

No. In the same post Rockstar reconfirmed that the game launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

How long is the Extended Look?

Not stated officially. On August 27 we checked both the Rockstar announcement and the Netflix page for the show — neither gives a runtime. The numbers quoted by some outlets have no official source, so we are not repeating them.
