How to Fish Skins and the Reel of Fortune Slot Machine
Contents
The Reel of Fortune is a slot machine that takes creatures rather than cash. The stake is drip fish and boss drops. Every spin gives you a skin — a cosmetic look that changes no number in the game.
The common confusion: slot machine is not the roulette
The game has two separate gambling devices and they get mixed up constantly:
| Reel of Fortune (slot machine) | Roulette | |
|---|---|---|
| What you stake | drip creatures, boss drops | money |
| What you win | skins | money |
| Where it stands | from the first islands | last two islands only |
| Achievement | GOLD GOLD GOLD (67.6%) | All in (38.0%) |
The roulette and its x35 green multiplier are covered in the money guide. This page is skins only.
What to pay with
Drip creatures. The machine’s main currency. The drip chance is around 10%, so a stockpile builds up on its own while you farm ordinary fish.
Boss drops. The spider crab’s shell and other boss items are accepted too. That makes the late-game crab farm doubly worthwhile: the crab supplies both food and slot-machine fuel — the farm layout.
The skin pool grows with your progress
The further you get through the islands, the larger the set of skins available in the machine. Spinning everything on the first island is therefore a losing strategy: you spend drip creatures on the poorest pool.
Practical advice: bank your drip until the third or fourth island, then spend. A legendary skin is random, but your odds of seeing one are better where the pool holds more rare variants.
GOLD GOLD GOLD: why not everyone
The legendary-skin achievement sits at 67.6% of players. That is higher than the share who finish the game (40.1%) — meaning plenty of people who never reached the ending still spun the machine.
But a third of players do not have it. The reason is simple: the machine is easy to miss or dismiss as scenery, because it adds nothing to combat stats. If you are going for the full achievement list — table here — do not leave the machine for later.
What the patch fixed
Patch 1.0.5, 22 August 2026 fixed a bug that made a skin from the machine invisible at 4K resolution. If you played at 4K before that patch and thought your skin had not applied — it had, it just was not drawn.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Reel of Fortune accept?
Drip creatures and boss drops. Ordinary fish will not work as a stake.
How do I get a legendary skin?
Spin the machine. The GOLD GOLD GOLD achievement is awarded for a legendary skin from the slot machine, and 67.6% of players have it.
Are the slot machine and the roulette the same thing?
