What How to Fish does not have: cloud saves, cards, Workshop

Feature lists usually describe what a game has. Before buying, though, the opposite is often more useful. We checked the official Steam feature list for How to Fish and wrote down what is missing - with what each absence actually costs you.
What is on the list
The game officially carries 14 markers: single-player, multi-player, co-op, online co-op, Steam Achievements, full controller support, custom volume controls, DualShock and DualSense support, save anytime, stereo sound and Steam Family Sharing.

The cloud is the one that matters
Of everything on that list the painful absence is Steam Cloud. Progress in How to Fish is stored on your machine only. Reinstall Windows, move to a new PC, play at home and at work - and you start over.
Judging by the patches, the developers know saves are a sensitive area: version 1.0.6 added save verification on load and autosave every minute, and 1.0.10 made dropped items stop disappearing. But that is protection against a corrupt file, not synchronisation between devices.
The advice is simple: if you plan to switch PCs, copy the save folder by hand.
An odd detail: the studio’s older game has more
Dazed Games has an earlier title - Out of Hand: Deluxe from 2025. Its Steam page does list Steam Cloud, Remote Play Together, split screen and even stats. So the studio knows how to wire these up; it simply has not done so in How to Fish yet.
That is not a complaint, just an observation: the Steam feature set has nothing to do with how popular a game is.
What we are not claiming
The list above is what is missing right now, as of August 31, 2026. A developer can add these markers at any time, and the studio has made no public promise about cloud saves, cards or a workshop - in either direction.
We also did not test whether mods work unofficially: the absence of Workshop only means there is no official channel for them.
Frequently asked questions
Does How to Fish have cloud saves?
No. Steam Cloud is absent from the game's feature list, so your progress lives only on the PC you play on and will not follow you to another machine.
Are there Steam trading cards?
No. Trading Cards are not listed, so there are no badges, no emoticons and no profile backgrounds from How to Fish.
Can I play with a friend through Remote Play Together?
No. The game does not support Remote Play. Your friend has to own a copy - in eight-player co-op everyone brings their own.
Are there leaderboards and mods?
No. Neither Leaderboards nor Steam Workshop is listed. Achievements exist, but an official player ranking and a mod workshop do not.
Is there split screen on one PC?
How to Fish does not have it. Curiously, the studio's previous game, Out of Hand: Deluxe, does support split screen.
