How to Fish 1.0.5: Private Lobbies and Axis Inversion

A day after patch 1.0.4, Dazed Games shipped 1.0.5 — an update almost entirely about co-op and settings.

Private lobbies

The headline change: invite-only private sessions. Until then co-op was effectively public and random players could drop into your world. On top of that, the session type can now be changed from inside the game — no need to return to the main menu to switch a lobby from public to private.

Alongside it, the instant session end was fixed; griefers had been using it to cut other people’s runs short.

Controls and performance

  • X and Y axis inversion — separate toggles in the settings. One of the most common complaints about the release build.
  • The locked fps floor dropped from 50 to 30. If your machine could not hold 50 frames, you can now lock lower and get a steady image instead of spikes.

Fixes

What was broken State after 1.0.5
Travelling to an already unlocked island fixed
Slot machine skin invisible in 4K fixed
Drip creature achievement counted one short fixed
Instant session end used by griefers fixed

The drip creature bug deserves a separate mention: because of it the Fishipedia achievement (2.8% of players) failed to unlock even for people who genuinely caught them all. If you were hunting drip creatures before 22 August and never got the achievement, that was the reason.

What it means in practice

If you play with friends, the update is mandatory: without it there are no private lobbies and no protection from griefers. If you play solo, the important parts are the 30 fps floor and the island travel fix.

The co-op breakdown is here, the drip creature list is here, and the full “symptom → version that fixes it” table lives in the troubleshooting guide.
