How to Fish 1.0.10: the biggest patch and an anglerfish nerf
Contents
The developers themselves titled the 1.0.10 post of 27 August as their biggest update so far — and it is the first time How to Fish was patched across every layer at once rather than in one spot.
Survival: water cleans your gear
The most noticeable quality-of-life change: weapons and tools can now be cleaned by dipping them in water. Until this patch, grime simply accumulated with nothing you could do about it.
Economy: dropped items stop vanishing
The game now keeps dropped items between sessions — up to 64 of them, prioritising weapons, tools, quest items and creatures. That rewrites the logic of stockpiling: anything that did not fit in your inventory before quitting used to be lost, and the island now works as storage.
The roulette was fixed in the same pass: no more infinite ticking, no more ball clipping through the level. That is the table where a bet on green pays ×35 and where the “All in” achievement is unlocked — held by 38.0% of players per the global Steam stats read on 31 August 2026.
Balance: the anglerfish nerf
The anglerfish was toned down, the second notable difficulty change after the pufferfish and whale nerfs in patch 1.0.4. It bites on the scientific lure, so this lands in the late game rather than at the start.
The small fixes that solve real pain
- beer bleeding fixed;
- tuna and albatross respawn lock fixed — this one matters for the fourth boss, because the tuna is its trigger;
- “Last played” no longer shows UTC and is converted to local time;
- rich text removed from chat;
- explosion maximum velocity limited;
- fixed the race where a seagull grabbed an item at the same moment as a player;
- the version number is now written to
player.log; - connection timeout lengthened;
- the “X” death marker removed from the radar;
- items falling through the level fixed.
What to do now
If you played before 27 August and left gear on an island “for later”, it will now still be there. The tuna that used to refuse to respawn is catchable again; what to do with it next is in the all bosses guide, and the baits are laid out here.
