Leonida Keys is a tropical archipelago and one of six destinations in the state of Leonida that Rockstar lists on the official Only in Leonida page. The company gave the region a heading, a short subheading, one paragraph of description, and an Explore button with video — and that’s where the official information on Leonida Keys ends.

Here’s the key caveat up front, so you don’t waste time hunting for it: Rockstar has not published an official map of Leonida. The media library on the game’s site has sections for Videos, Clips, Screenshots, Ultimate Edition Benefits, the Vintage Vice City Pack, and Artwork & Wallpapers — no map among them. Checked 28 August 2026. So everything below is exactly what’s officially known about the region as of that date. No more, no less.

How Rockstar describes Leonida Keys

The description is short and built on two contrasting ideas.

The first: life here isn’t flashy, but it is easy. The region’s subheading talks about a loose dress code and bars that always have people in them. This isn’t a resort with gold signage — it’s a place where nobody answers to anybody for how they look.

The second idea cuts against the first. Rockstar states directly that the archipelago sits on the edge of some of America’s most beautiful and most dangerous waters. That’s a meaningful detail: the water in the Leonida Keys description isn’t background scenery, it’s called out as its own risk zone. The company deliberately puts “easy” next to “dangerous” — and doesn’t explain what actually makes those waters dangerous.

The page’s overall framing also tells you where the archipelago sits within the state. The subheading on the Only in Leonida page reads “Home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond” (Rockstar’s own wording). So Vice City is positioned as the centre, with the other five destinations — Leonida Keys included — as what lies beyond it.

What the official footage actually shows

Beyond the text, Rockstar shows video for the region behind the Explore Leonida Keys button. Among the official shots of the archipelago:

  • An iguana crossing the road in front of a mobility scooter. One scene that tells you something about both the climate and who lives here.
  • A seaplane flying over the water. Behind it, a car-carrying bridge connects two islands.

Those two shots tell you more about the region than the text does: transport here is both airborne and bridge-bound, the islands connect to each other, and wildlife wanders straight onto the road.

What’s missing from the footage is labels. Rockstar hasn’t named any towns in the archipelago, hasn’t said how many islands make up Leonida Keys, and hasn’t said how the region connects to the rest of the state.

Where Leonida Keys sits among the other destinations

The Only in Leonida page lists exactly six destinations. Here they are, as Rockstar presents them:

Destination Role on the page
Vice City the state’s centre, named in the section subheading
Leonida Keys tropical archipelago
Grassrivers separate destination with its own video
Port Gellhorn separate destination with its own video
Ambrosia separate destination with its own video
Mount Kalaga separate destination with its own video

The format is identical across all six: heading, short subheading, description paragraph, and an Explore button with the destination’s name and video. Leonida Keys doesn’t get any special treatment compared to the rest — but it doesn’t get less, either.

There’s no official data on how the destinations relate to each other geographically — what’s bigger, what’s closer, what connects where. If you’re after the wider geography question, that’s covered separately in our guide to the GTA 6 map, and the answer there is the same: no official map exists.

What actually sets Leonida Keys apart

Based on the official description, two things.

It’s the only one of the six destinations Rockstar directly calls an archipelago. None of the other five get that label. So this isn’t a city district or an inland nature zone — it’s a group of islands.

It’s the destination where Rockstar flags water as a risk factor, right in the description itself. Rockstar could have stuck to beaches and bars — instead it added a direct warning about dangerous waters. In a short paragraph, every sentence counts, and spending one of them on risk rather than scenery is a choice, not an accident.

Anything beyond that would be guesswork. And we don’t do guesswork here.

What we’re not claiming

This section is short, but it’s the most important part of the piece.

  • We don’t know how many islands make up the archipelago. Rockstar hasn’t said. One shot shows a bridge between two islands — that’s all we have.
  • We don’t know the names of any towns in Leonida Keys. Only the region itself has been officially named.
  • We don’t know exactly how the “dangerous waters” work. That’s wording from the official description, not a description of a game mechanic. What it means in practice, Rockstar hasn’t explained.
  • We don’t know the region’s size or its share of the overall map. Without an official map, any figure here would be invented.
  • We’re not naming missions, characters, or activities tied to the archipelago. Rockstar hasn’t published that link. For which characters have already been officially introduced, see our GTA 6 characters roundup.

If you come across a detailed breakdown of Leonida Keys neighbourhoods with names and sizes attached, that information isn’t in Rockstar’s official materials as of 28 August 2026.

How to check this yourself

Don’t take our word for it — verifying this takes a few minutes:

  1. Open the Only in Leonida page on rockstargames.com and count the destination blocks. There are six.
  2. Find the Leonida Keys block — read the heading, subheading, and paragraph. Compare it against what’s written above.
  3. Click the Explore Leonida Keys button and watch the region’s video.
  4. Go into the game’s media library on the same site and go through each section. Confirm there’s no map among them.

That’s the entire official record on the region. Our full list of primary sources is in the GTA 6 official sources guide.

What else is officially confirmed around this

Two dates worth keeping in mind alongside this piece.

The Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look showcase is dated 27 August 2026 on the official site. Rockstar labelled it as captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5 — not a pre-rendered trailer. The company hasn’t published a written shot-by-shot breakdown of the showcase, so we’re not going to list one. Our own breakdown of the showcase is here.

The game itself launches on 19 November 2026 — that’s the date Rockstar displays in a banner on its own game pages. The platforms listed there are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC isn’t among them. More detail in our GTA 6 platforms guide.

Bottom line

Leonida Keys is a tropical archipelago, one of six official destinations in the state of Leonida: relaxed living, full bars, and a direct Rockstar warning about dangerous waters. There’s no official map of the region, and everything above is the complete official record as of 28 August 2026.
