Who made How to Fish: Dazed Games and two signatures
Contents
On the How to Fish store page, developer and publisher are the same entry: Dazed Games. No external publisher, no large name behind it.
Two signatures on every post
All eight Steam posts — from the release announcement on 20 August to patch 1.0.10 on 27 August — are signed the same way: Carl-Vilhelm and Melvin. Sometimes as Thanks, sometimes as Goodbye, but always the same two names.
How many people the studio actually employs, we have not established. All that is visible is two names on all eight posts.
Eight days, in order
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 20 August | Release, 38% discount for one week |
| 21 August | Patch 1.0.4 — co-op raised to 8 players |
| 22 August | Patch 1.0.5 — private lobbies, axis invert |
| 23 August | Announcement: one million players in two days |
| 23 August | Patch 1.0.6 — autosave every minute |
| 24 August | Patches 1.0.8 and 1.0.9 — PlayStation glyphs, difficulty |
| 27 August | Patch 1.0.10 — dropped items persist between sessions |
Six patch notes in eight days. There is no 1.0.7 post — nothing was published between 1.0.6 and 1.0.8.
What they promised
The million-players post is the studio’s shortest. It contains two promises back to back: they will add more content, and they will keep fixing bugs. No dates, no content list and no roadmap have followed.
They are keeping the second promise literally: nearly every following day brought a patch.
Where they point players
The studio Discord shows up twice in the patch notes, in two different roles:
- 1.0.9 added Steam connection diagnostics to the main menu. If the relay text glows red, the developers ask players to post in the bug-report channel.
- 1.0.10 opened a dedicated channel for fanart.
Who they actually are
The studio’s own site closes some of the gaps. dazed.games lists two co-founders - Melvin Olsson and Carl-Vilhelm Johansson. Those are the same two names signing all eight Steam posts, which means the signatures in the patch notes are the entire team.
The studio’s X profile gives its location as Skovde, Sweden, with the account created in April 2024.
And this is not their first game: Steam also carries Out of Hand: Deluxe, released on 19 June 2025. How to Fish was made by people who had already taken a project all the way to release once.
The FAQ on the studio site answers a few more common questions: streaming and monetising videos is allowed, free keys are not handed out, bugs should go to Discord, and the question about consoles and Mac gets a yes - with no idea when.
What we are not claiming
We still do not know the update plans: there is no roadmap, no dates and no list of upcoming content. There is no interview to cite either - everything we have is what the studio wrote about itself on its own site and in the patch notes.
