GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preload starts on 12 November, at local midnight (full breakdown). A PC version is not part of any plan Rockstar has announced publicly.

That is the short answer. Below are the details that actually change your November plans.

The date and how firm it is

Rockstar named 19 November 2026 on 6 November 2025 and has not moved it since. Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026, and the preload date is confirmed — both are things a publisher does when a date is being held, not reconsidered.

Being honest about the history, though: this date is the third one. The sequence went

  1. Autumn 2025 — the original window from the first announcement.
  2. 26 May 2026 — announced in May 2025.
  3. 19 November 2026 — announced on 6 November 2025, and current.

So a further delay cannot be ruled out on principle. What can be said is that nothing in Rockstar’s current behaviour points to one, and that anyone telling you today they know the game will slip again is guessing.

Platforms: what is in, what is out

Announced: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Not announced: everything else. That includes PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2 — and PC.

The PC point deserves its own paragraph, because it is where most of the confusion around this release lives.

About the PC version

There is no announced PC version of GTA 6. Not “no date yet” — no announcement at all. Rockstar has not confirmed one is in development, has not named a window, and has not put a PC entry on the official page.

What people are actually reasoning from is the company’s history:

  • GTA 5 — consoles in September 2013, PC in April 2015. Roughly a year and a half.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 — consoles in autumn 2018, PC in late 2019. Roughly a year.

That is a pattern, and it is a reasonable thing to expect. It is not a promise, a date, or a fact about GTA 6. If you are choosing hardware based on it, you are betting on a habit, not on an announcement. We will update this page the day Rockstar says something concrete — and not before.

Preload: from 12 November

Preload opens on 12 November 2026 at local midnight, a week ahead of release. Rockstar support words it exactly that way: not US time, not UTC, but the clock your console is set to. Buy the game and the console downloads it in advance; on launch night the file is already on your drive and only needs unlocking.

Boxed copies count too. The box holds a download code and no disc, and it reaches shipping and shelves from 12 November — so the preload window depends on how fast it is delivered. We cover space, code regions and the 20 November bonus cut-off in our preload guide.

Worth planning around: this is a very large game and 12 November is when everyone who pre-ordered starts pulling it down at once. If your connection is slow, start on the first day rather than the last.

What time it unlocks

The game unlocks at midnight on 19 November, local time — not simultaneously around the world.

For the UK, midnight local is 00:00 UTC on 19 November. In the US, each time zone unlocks at its own local midnight, which means the East Coast gets in three hours before the West Coast.

One caveat we would rather state than skip: Rockstar has not published a timezone-by-timezone table. The local-midnight pattern is what the store listings show. Your own PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store product page displays the exact unlock time for your account’s region — that is the number to trust, and if it reads as an 18 November time in UTC for your region, that is still midnight on the 19th where you are, not a different date.

What to do now

  • If you have pre-ordered: nothing until 12 November. Free up drive space and preload early rather than on the eve of launch.
  • If you have not: buying on release day itself still earns you the pre-order bonus, but that is the cut-off. Sony’s terms say “before November 20, 2026”, making 19 November the last eligible day — and only for digital editions, not boxed copies. See our GTA+ subscription guide for what that free month is actually worth.
  • If you are on PC: there is nothing to wait for on a known date. Follow the official announcements; treat every “PC release date” you see today as unsourced.

The summary in one sentence

19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, preload from the 12th, midnight local time — and on PC, nothing has been announced at all.

Frequently asked questions

When exactly does GTA 6 come out?

19 November 2026. Rockstar locked that date in November 2025 and has not changed it since.

Will GTA 6 be on PC at launch?

No. A PC version has not been announced at all — there is no date and no confirmation that one is coming. This is the single most common misunderstanding about the release.

What about PS4 or Xbox One?

No. The announced platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Previous-generation consoles are not on the list.

When can I start downloading the game?

From 12 November 2026, at local midnight — that is Rockstar support's own wording. Box owners can preload too: inside is a code, not a disc.

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Midnight on 19 November, local time. In the UK that is 00:00 UTC on 19 November. Your own store page shows the exact time for your account's region.

Could the release be delayed again?

It has been delayed twice already, so it cannot be ruled out. But since the November 2025 announcement Rockstar has not moved the date, and pre-orders and preload are both running on that schedule.
