GTA+ and GTA 6: what the subscription gives you

GTA+ costs $7.99 a month. It is Rockstar’s subscription, and it is a month of exactly this that gets handed out free to everyone who pre-orders GTA 6.

The part the marketing line — “1 month of GTA+ with your pre-order” — does not tell you: this is a subscription for GTA Online, which means GTA 5, not GTA 6. Below: what it actually contains, who gets nothing out of the free month, and how to cancel in time.

What GTA+ includes

Rockstar’s official page lists the following:

• GTA$500,000 every month, deposited into your Maze Bank account on the day the membership fee is charged;
• The Vinewood Club — a 100-car garage across five floors, a vehicle workshop inside the garage, a dedicated in-game app, a rotating claimable bonus vehicle and test drives;
• member-only Shark Cards with 15% more GTA$ for the same money;
• GTA$ and RP multipliers on selected missions and modes, plus member discounts on vehicles, properties and upgrades;
• a monthly cosmetics rotation — liveries, full Chameleon Paint schemes and Chameleon Wheel Paint, exclusive apparel and masks;
• in-game services — free VIP and CEO vehicle requests, bribing the authorities to reduce your wanted level, going off the radar, free taxi rides with a shorter cooldown, and Gun Van access with discounted weapons and armour.

That last block is the most valuable in practice: it is not cosmetics, it is the part that saves you time in GTA Online sessions.

The games library

Members get access to a selection of Rockstar classics for as long as those games remain in the library. As of 13 August 2026 the list runs to ten titles:

⚠️ Two conditions that are easy to miss. First, the list rotates — Rockstar states plainly that the games are available only while they remain in the library. Second, access is tied to the platform your membership is active on. A PS5 membership will not unlock these games on PC.

What it costs and where to subscribe

The right-hand column is our arithmetic, not an official price: GTA+ has no annual plan at all, only a monthly one. And that arithmetic is worth pausing on: a year of GTA+ costs $95.88, which is more than the $79.99 standard edition of GTA 6 itself.

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. On consoles you subscribe through the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store; on PC through the Rockstar Store, the Microsoft Store or Steam. GTA+ does not exist on PS4 or Xbox One.

The main point: GTA+ is not a GTA 6 subscription

This is worth slowing down for, because it is the exact spot where most people get it wrong.

Rockstar’s own page describes GTA+ as “the premium Membership for GTA Online players”. The subscription’s PlayStation Store page says the same thing even more bluntly: access to Grand Theft Auto Online on PS5 is required to receive the benefits. GTA Online is GTA 5’s multiplayer mode.

And GTA 6, in Sony’s own words in its support pages, is a single-player experience. No multiplayer mode is announced for 19 November 2026; we covered that separately in our piece on GTA 6 online.

Which leads somewhere simple: the free month bundled with a GTA 6 pre-order is a month of benefits in GTA 5. Neither the GTA$500,000, nor the 100-car garage, nor the discounts have anywhere to apply inside GTA 6 at launch.

Whether GTA+ will eventually extend to GTA 6 has not been announced. That is an open question, not a confirmed plan and not a denial. We will update this page if Rockstar says anything concrete.

Who gets nothing out of the free month

Check yourself against three points — if any one of them is you, the bonus is empty:

1. You do not own GTA 5 / GTA Online on the same platform. The membership by itself does not unlock the game — GTA V is in the GTA+ library, but you would still have to download it and learn it, and doing that for one month is a questionable plan.
2. You play on PS4 or Xbox One. GTA+ does not exist there — and GTA 6 is not coming to those consoles at all.
3. You are buying the boxed version. Sony’s terms recognise only the digital Standard and Ultimate editions as eligible. A box gets you no bonus — and no disc either, as we covered in our price breakdown.

The exact pre-order offer terms

Every date matters here, so we quote them as they are written in Sony’s official terms:

• You have to buy before 20 November 2026 — which makes 19 November, release day itself, the last eligible day. The 20th is too late.
• Redeem the month by 31 March 2027. You can redeem at any point inside that window; there is no need to rush on the day you buy.
• One claim per account, no matter how many copies or editions you buy.
• The subscription is non-transferable and works only on the account the pre-order was made from.
• Existing subscribers get the month stacked on top of their current subscription. That is a specifically stated exception: stacking is normally not supported by GTA+ on the PlayStation Store.
• The offer does not run everywhere. Sony lists the excluded stores: Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, the Russian Federation and Taiwan.

How to cancel so it stops charging you

Cancelling stops future charges, but the subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Payments already made are not refunded — that is stated outright in the terms.

Three routes, all equivalent:

• On the PS5: Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions > select GTA+ > Cancel Subscription.
• On playstation.com: sign in > Subscriptions Management > select GTA+ > Cancel.
• In the PlayStation App: PS Store > Options > Subscription Management > Subscription Settings > Cancel.

A practical tip: cancel right after you redeem, not at the end of the month. You keep access to the end of the paid period either way, and you remove any chance of forgetting.

The summary in one sentence

GTA+ is $7.99 a month for benefits in GTA Online, which is to say in GTA 5; the free month with a GTA 6 pre-order is a nice touch but it is a bonus attached to the old game, not the new one, so it is no reason to buy — and it is worth cancelling straight away before the $7.99 starts collecting itself.
