Mirana in Dota 2: Beginner's Guide
Contents
Mirana is a ranged hero with agility as her primary attribute, 630 attack range and a difficulty rating of 2 of 3 on Valve’s official scale. She fights from a distance, has five abilities, and her talent tree holds 8 talents.
Below is what Valve’s official data actually tells us about her — and, just as importantly, what it doesn’t. That second part matters as much as the first: most “guides” online start exactly where the verifiable numbers stop.
What the official source says
Valve publishes hero data through a machine-readable feed — the same one the game client pulls names and stats from. In the hero list, Mirana’s ID is 9. Her official hero page is dota2.com/hero/mirana.
Her primary attribute is agility. In Dota 2, the primary attribute determines which stat scales a hero’s auto-attack damage. For Mirana that’s agility, so its per-level gain is the number worth keeping in mind when you look at the table below.
Stats: the table
| Attribute | Base value | Gain per level |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | 20 | +2.2 |
| Agility (primary) | 26 | +3.1 |
| Intelligence | 22 | +1.9 |
The rest of her base parameters:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Attack range | 630 |
| Base damage | 48–54 |
| Armour | 2.3333335 |
| Movement speed | 285 |
| Valve difficulty rating | 2 of 3 |
Yes, armour really is listed as 2.3333335 — that’s not a typo, it’s the raw figure from the feed. The client rounds it for display; we’re giving you exactly what Valve’s data returns.
What these numbers mean in practice
630 is a lot. Attack range determines how far away a hero can hit something without closing the distance. Melee heroes have to stand in the thick of it — Mirana doesn’t. For a new player that’s a real difference: you’ve got more room to make positioning mistakes, because you can trade damage while standing behind your own allies.
Agility has the biggest per-level gain of the three. +3.1 per level against +2.2 strength and +1.9 intelligence. The primary attribute grows faster than the others, so as Mirana levels up she becomes noticeably better at auto-attacking rather than at surviving. Strength governs health pool, and it isn’t the stat growing fastest here. Put simply: Mirana gets better at dishing out damage with levels, not at absorbing it.
Base damage of 48–54 is a starting point, not a ceiling. The range means each hit lands somewhere within it. Damage climbs further from agility and items, but on the first minute of the game those are the numbers you’re actually working with. If last-hitting feels inconsistent, that damage spread is one reason a creep sometimes dies to a single hit and sometimes doesn’t. We’ve got a separate breakdown of last-hitting and denying mechanics: last-hits and denies.
Movement speed of 285. This governs how fast the hero crosses the map — it matters both for reaching a fight in time and for getting out of one.
Armour of 2.3333335. Armour reduces physical damage taken. The starting value is low, and that fits the rest of the picture: this hero is built for range, not for trading blows up close.

Five abilities
Mirana has 5 abilities. Here are their official English names as recorded in the game client:
- Starstorm
- Sacred Arrow
- Leap
- Sacred Quiver
- Moonlight Shadow
The one numerical detail we can give you about her abilities: Leap costs 50 mana. That’s a fixed cast cost.
Now, an important caveat. Full mechanic descriptions in the game client belong to Valve, and we’re not going to copy them out. Our source doesn’t include damage values, radii, durations or cooldowns for these abilities, so we’re not naming a single one of those figures — not exactly, not “roughly” either. The most reliable way to learn exactly what each ability does is to open the hero in the client itself, or on the official page, and hover over the icon.
What you can take away without guessing: five abilities is one more than the standard four-ability kit, so there’s slightly more to keep track of than on the simplest heroes. And one of them has a mana cost of 50 — meaning you’ll need to manage mana deliberately rather than pressing it every time it’s off cooldown.
Difficulty 2 of 3, and 8 talents
Valve itself rates hero difficulty, and for Mirana that’s 2 of 3. She doesn’t sit at the top of the scale, but she’s not at the bottom either. Read that literally: the developer considers her medium in terms of demands on the player — no more, no less.
Her talent tree holds 8 talents. Talents in Dota 2 are choices that unlock as you level up and permanently change something about the hero for the rest of the match. We’re not listing specific wording or values here for the same reason as with the abilities — our source only gives us the count.
Where the hero is strong, and where she isn’t
No tier lists, no win rates — just what follows directly from the stats themselves.
Strengths visible in the numbers:
- 630 attack range lets her fight without walking into melee range;
- an agility gain of +3.1 — the highest of the three — means her primary attribute scales faster than the rest;
- five abilities instead of four means more options for any given situation.
Weaknesses just as visible in the numbers:
- armour of 2.3333335 and a strength gain of +2.2 — this isn’t a hero built around durability;
- base damage of 48–54 with a spread — early hits are inconsistent, and last-hitting takes attention;
- movement speed of 285 is a fixed figure, and it won’t work miracles — you won’t always be able to walk out of a bad position;
- at least one ability costing 50 mana means you can’t spam it for free.
What we’re not claiming
⚠️ A quick rundown of everything deliberately left out of this piece:
- Meta, tier lists, win rates. We don’t have this data, and we won’t invent it.
- A “best item build”. We’re not listing a single item here — the official source doesn’t cover it. General notes on starting purchases live in our starting items piece.
- A recommended position. Valve’s feed doesn’t say which position to play this hero in. For positions as a mechanic in their own right, see our five positions breakdown.
- Ability cooldowns, damage figures or radii. Aside from Leap’s mana cost, our source has no numbers on abilities at all.
- A promise of results. Attack range and agility growth are stats, not a guarantee of wins.
Getting started, if you’re picking her up for the first time
- Open her hero page — dota2.com/hero/mirana — and read all five ability descriptions from the primary source rather than a retelling.
- Look at the talent tree in the client. There are 8 talents, and it’s better to see them before a match than to meet them for the first time mid-game.
- Practise last-hitting. Base damage of 48–54 with a spread makes this a skill, not something that happens automatically.
- Keep your distance on purpose. 630 is your main advantage, and it only works while you actually use it.
If Dota 2 is new to you altogether, it’s worth going through your first hour in the game before digging into specific heroes.
In short
Mirana is an agility hero with 630 attack range, five abilities, 8 talents and a difficulty rating of 2 of 3 on Valve’s scale: she fights from a distance and gets better at damage as she levels, but armour of 2.3333335 and a strength gain of +2.2 mean she isn’t built for trading hits up close.
