GTA 6 languages: the full official list of all 13
Contents
GTA 6 ships in 13 languages, and only one of them will be spoken aloud. The list comes from the Supported Languages section on the game’s Rockstar Store page — a primary source, not someone’s guess.
That list has a catch that trips up most people reading it. Here it is in order.
The full list: 13 languages
| # | Language | # | Language |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | English | 8 | Korean |
| 2 | French | 9 | Simplified Chinese |
| 3 | Italian | 10 | Traditional Chinese |
| 4 | German | 11 | Spanish (Mexico) |
| 5 | Russian | 12 | Spanish (Spain) |
| 6 | Japanese | 13 | Portuguese (Brazil) |
| 7 | Polish |
Thirteen entries. Not on the list: Ukrainian, Turkish, Czech, Arabic, Dutch, Swedish and every other language you might reasonably have expected from a game of this size.
A supported language means subtitles, not voices
This is where the confusion starts. The word supported on a store page does not promise that characters will speak your language. You can verify what it really means using Rockstar’s previous games: Steam marks languages that have full audio with an asterisk, and in both cases there is exactly one asterisk.
| Game | Languages listed | With full audio |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V Legacy | 13 | English only |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 13 | English only |
So Polish, Russian or Chinese in those games means menus and subtitles. The voices are English, every time.
Rockstar has not announced anything different for GTA 6. The reasonable assumption is English dubbing plus translated text on screen.
What that means in practice: you play while reading. In GTA that is a real cost, not a footnote — a large share of the writing lands during driving, chases and shootouts, exactly when you cannot spare a glance at the bottom of the screen. It was a known complaint in GTA 5 and nothing about GTA 6 suggests it is solved.
The same set as ten years ago
The most revealing thing about this list is that it is not new.
Compare them: the current GTA 5 list has the same 13 languages, and Red Dead Redemption 2 has 13 and the same set again. The difference between the GTA 6 and GTA 5 lists is literally one item — where GTA 5 says “Spanish - Latin America”, GTA 6 says “Spanish (Mexico)”. Everything else matches entry for entry.
That is not an accident, it is a policy. Rockstar maintains one settled set of markets and does not expand it, not for new regions and not for a new console generation.
⚠️ What we are not claiming: that the list can never change after release. Store listings do get amended. But as of August 2026 this is what it says, and building expectations on “maybe later” is not something we would recommend.
Changing the language
Interface and subtitle language in Rockstar games is set inside the game’s own options and does not follow your account region. There is no reason to buy the game in another region to get a language — and that route risks your account being blocked, which we covered in the price and editions breakdown.
On PC there will be no language differences for a simple reason: there is no PC version. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only — details in our pieces on platforms and on why no official system requirements exist yet.
We will update this page if Rockstar changes the language list. We will not invent promises on the company’s behalf.
The summary in one sentence
GTA 6 supports 13 languages, but only English is spoken — everything else is subtitles you read on the move, and the list itself has not changed since GTA 5.
Frequently asked questions
What languages does GTA 6 support?
English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain) and Portuguese (Brazil) — 13 in total.
Will GTA 6 have voice acting in other languages?
No. Only English gets full voice acting. In GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 the same is true, and every other language is subtitles and interface text.
Does a supported language mean the game is dubbed?
No. On a store page supported means the interface and subtitles are translated. Steam marks languages with full audio using an asterisk, and both GTA 5 and RDR2 carry exactly one.
Is Ukrainian in GTA 6?
No. Ukrainian is not on the official list of 13, and neither are Turkish, Czech or Arabic.
Can I change the language in the game?
Yes. Interface and subtitle language is set inside the game options and does not depend on your account region, the way it has worked in every previous Rockstar title.
Has Rockstar ever expanded its language list?
Not between these titles. The GTA 6 set matches the current GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 lists entry for entry, with one wording change.
