Where to Buy GTA 6: Official Stores by Region
Contents
GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is a global date — but being able to buy the game is not global at all. It is decided country by country, by Sony and Microsoft separately, and the two do not always agree.
We measured both first-party sources on 14 August 2026: the PlayStation Store product page in several locales, and Microsoft’s own service availability table. Below is what they actually say, and how to check your own country in two minutes.
How to check your own country
There are exactly two authoritative pages, and neither is a news site:
| Platform | Where to look | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation | the game’s PlayStation Store page in your locale | whether it sells, at what price, in what currency |
| Xbox | Microsoft’s service availability table for your country | whether console games are sold to you at all |
If the PlayStation page opens with a price in your currency and a pre-order button, that channel is open. If Microsoft’s table shows Console games — Not supported for your country, that channel is closed regardless of what any retailer tells you.
Two neighbours, two different answers
The cleanest way to show how much this varies is to put two neighbouring European countries side by side. Both measured on the same day, from the same pages.
| Poland | Ukraine | |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store | ✅ 349 zł / 429 zł | ✅ 3 499 UAH / 4 299 UAH |
| Store language | Polish | Ukrainian |
| Xbox — Console games | Supported | Not supported |
| Xbox — PC games | Supported | Supported |
| Xbox — Game Pass (all tiers) | Supported | Not supported for console, PC tier supported |
| Xbox — Cloud Gaming | Supported | Not supported |
| Xbox — Rewards, Mastercard | Not supported | Not supported |
Same continent, same launch date, completely different purchasing reality. In Poland the choice of platform is a genuine choice. In Ukraine the store makes it for you: PlayStation is fully official, with a Ukrainian-language store and local pricing, while Microsoft’s own table rules the console channel out.
⚠️ The words Supported and Not supported are Microsoft’s, taken from its own table. We are not softening them or substituting our own judgement.
One trap worth naming: PC games showing as Supported does not help here. There is no PC version of GTA 6 and none has been announced (the PC situation). The same goes for the subscription tiers — the game will not be in Game Pass at launch anyway (why) — and for cloud (breakdown).
What the PlayStation Store page tells you beyond the price
The same product page carries several things worth reading before you pay, and they were identical in every locale we measured:
- The money leaves immediately. The page warns in capitals that a pre-order requires immediate payment. This is a purchase now for a November delivery, not a reservation.
- The bonus has a cut-off. The Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+ go to purchases made before 20 November 2026.
- The GTA+ month has an expiry. It must be claimed by 31 March 2027, and only once per account no matter how many copies you buy. After the free month the membership renews automatically and at cost (terms).
- The rating shown in Europe is PEGI Provisional 18, while the US listing shows ESRB Rating Pending — neither is final (what that means).
- The date field reads 18.11.2026 in most of Europe. That is the unlock moment expressed in UTC, not a different launch day (full explanation).
The edition decision is made at purchase
The standalone Ultimate Edition upgrade add-on exists in the catalogue but shows as unavailable — in Ukrainian, Russian-language and Polish store locales alike. So the familiar plan “buy Standard now, upgrade later” does not currently work: you pick the edition when you pay.
Because the state is identical across locales, this looks like a property of the product rather than a regional restriction. Sony gives no explanation, and we are not going to invent one.
Regional buckets and codes
For PlayStation, Rockstar publishes a country list split into regional buckets — Brazil, LATAM, North America, Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia & UAE, Rest of Asia, and Rest of EMEA and Asia. A code issued for one bucket is not intended for an account in another.
For Xbox, Rockstar states plainly that codes are not region-locked, and that codes issued in Japan expire 170 days after issue. The mechanics are covered in our pre-order guide.
That difference is real, and it is exactly why it gets misread. “Not region-locked” describes how a code behaves; it does not create an official store in a country where the platform holder does not operate one.
What we do not recommend
Buying from another country’s store. It breaks the store’s own terms and puts the entire account at risk rather than one purchase. We covered the price side of that temptation separately in our price article, and we are not publishing a method.
If you are still choosing hardware, the availability question changes the maths — a console with no official store in your country is not the cheap entry it looks like (console comparison).
What we cannot claim
- That your specific bank card will be accepted. We do not make payments and did not test this.
- That availability will not change before launch. Both tables show today’s state, not a permanent commitment.
- That consoles are not sold in a country at all. Microsoft’s “Not supported” covers its own services and distribution, not what local retailers import.
- Why the standalone Ultimate upgrade is unavailable. Sony does not say.
- Hardware prices. They vary by retailer and week, and we do not invent averages.
Bottom line
- Availability is per country, and PlayStation and Xbox do not cover the same list.
- Poland: both channels official — 349 zł / 429 zł on PS5, console games Supported on Xbox.
- Ukraine: PlayStation fully official in Ukrainian at 3 499 / 4 299 UAH; Xbox console games Not supported.
- Pre-orders charge immediately, the bonus cut-off is 20 November and the GTA+ month expires 31 March 2027.
- Check the two first-party pages for your own country rather than trusting a retailer’s claim.
Frequently asked questions
Is GTA 6 on sale in every country?
No. Both Sony and Microsoft operate country by country, and their coverage is not identical. In Ukraine, for example, the PlayStation Store sells the game while Microsoft lists console games as Not supported.
How do I check whether my country is covered?
Open the PlayStation Store concept page in your own locale and check the Xbox service availability table for your country. Both are first-party pages and both are updated by the platform holders themselves.
Is the money taken at pre-order or at launch?
At pre-order. The PlayStation Store page warns in capitals that a pre-order requires immediate payment. It is a purchase today, not a reservation.
Can I buy Standard now and upgrade to Ultimate later?
Not as of 14 August 2026. The standalone Ultimate Edition upgrade add-on shows as unavailable in every store locale we measured, so the edition is chosen at purchase.
Are Xbox codes region-locked?
Rockstar states that Xbox codes are not region-locked, while for PlayStation it publishes a country list split into regional buckets. That is a statement about codes, not permission to buy outside your own store.
What happens if I buy from another country's store?
It breaks the store's own terms and puts the whole account at risk rather than a single purchase. We do not recommend it and we do not describe how to do it.
