That is all. There is no official frame rate, no resolution, no list of graphics modes, and not a word about ray tracing in the console version. Rockstar has not published a platform comparison, and neither has Sony.

It is worth noting separately that even the official GTA 6 features page lists audio, haptics and loading speed — and nothing about frame rate or resolution. The silence is systematic, not a gap in one press release.

Three things that break the “Pro means 60 fps” assumption

1. The Pro’s gain is mostly graphical, not on the processor side. Notebookcheck states it plainly: the PS5 Pro’s CPU is only a modest upgrade over the cheaper system, while the GPU is significantly stronger. But GTA 6’s load is crowds of lifelike NPCs and a massive map — exactly what taxes the processor. A stronger GPU does not get around that limit.

2. The Extended Look was captured on a base PS5. According to Kotaku, the gameplay was recorded on a standard PlayStation 5, not a Pro. That means the level of detail everyone saw and everyone was impressed by is already achievable without the upgrade. The Pro version is meant to add something on top — but what, exactly, has not been said.

3. The Rockstar developer did not mention the Pro at all. Rob Nelson (Head of Development and Co-Studio Head at Rockstar North), as relayed by the Brazilian outlet Flow Games, talked about 30 fps in current console builds and, as Notebookcheck points out, did not address PS5 Pro enhancements that Pro owners were counting on — higher frame rates and a 120 Hz option. What it costs beyond the console itself

We do not quote hardware prices: they differ by retailer and change. But two cost items are certain:

1. The disc drive. It is not included with the PS5 Pro — Sony’s announcement says so directly. If you own disc games or plan to buy the physical edition of GTA 6, the drive is a separate purchase.
2. Moving your data. The Pro’s 2TB is more than the base PS5 configurations, so space is not the issue — but the library still has to be transferred (how big the game is).

⚠️ On price, openly. Sony announced $699.99 (US, September 2024). Outlets writing about the PS5 Pro in August 2026 — Kotaku and Notebookcheck — describe it as a “$900 console”. When the upgrade is genuinely justified

Not for GTA 6, but for the rest of your library. The gain Sony announced is real and it works today, in games that already support the Pro. The upgrade has a rational case if:

• you play many different games, not one a year;
• you care about ray tracing where it is already implemented;
• you need 2TB of space and your current console is permanently full.

If none of that describes you and the only argument is “GTA 6 is coming”, then this is a bet rather than a calculation. Bets are allowed — calling them justified decisions is not.

What would change this answer

• an official frame rate for the PS5 Pro version;
• a resolution or a list of graphics modes;
• confirmation or denial of a 120 Hz mode;

The game launches on 19 November 2026, with preload opening on 12 November (full date calendar). Technical details are usually published closer to launch — so there is still time to decide.
