How to Get Palworld: Steam, Game Pass or PS5
Contents
You can get Palworld three ways: buy it on Steam for ₴600, get it at no extra cost through a Game Pass subscription, or buy it on PS5 for $29.99. These are three different access models, and the choice between them isn’t really about “which is cheaper” — it’s about what you play on and whether you already have an active subscription.
Below is what’s actually confirmed by official pages, how these options differ, and what we deliberately don’t claim.
Three routes at a glance
| Route | Platform | What you pay | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam | PC | ₴600 for the base version | The game, bought outright |
| Game Pass Ultimate / Premium / PC Game Pass | Xbox and PC | Subscription cost | The game is included in the subscription — no separate purchase needed |
| PlayStation Store | PS5 | $29.99 | The game, bought separately |
The real difference isn’t the amount — it’s the nature of the payment. In the first and third cases, you’re buying the game itself. In the second, you’re paying for a service that currently happens to include the game.
Steam: a straight purchase on PC
On Steam, the base version of Palworld costs ₴600. That’s the price of buying the game outright on PC through this platform — no subscription needed for access.
This route is the easiest to understand: pay once, and the game stays in your Steam library. That’s why the PC version tends to be the go-to option for anyone planning to play long-term, install mods, or run their own server.
Before buying, it’s worth checking whether your PC can actually run the game — we cover that in a separate guide to system requirements.
⚠️ What we’re not claiming here: that ₴600 is a permanent price. Stores change prices and run sales. We’re recording the state of the official game page, not making a promise about the future.
Game Pass: the game is already part of the subscription
An official Xbox Wire announcement confirms the key fact: the full 1.0 release of Palworld, launched on 10 July, was added to Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. Subscribers to all three services get the game without buying it separately.
What that means in practice:
- If you already have an active subscription, you don’t pay anything extra for Palworld — it’s simply in the catalogue.
- If you don’t have a subscription, you’re paying for the service, not the game. We’re not stating how much that costs: our sources don’t give subscription price figures, and we won’t make them up.
- PC Game Pass covers PC. Ultimate and Premium are Xbox subscription tiers that also include the game.
The key difference from Steam: a subscription buys access, not ownership. As long as it’s active, you can play. It’s a reasonable way to try the game before deciding whether to buy it outright.
PS5: a separate purchase
The official PlayStation Store page shows that on PS5, Palworld is sold separately for $29.99. No subscription is needed to access the game itself — it’s a standard purchase.
There’s an important catch specific to PS5: single-player is accessible without a subscription, but online play for up to 4 players requires an active PS Plus subscription. So if you’re buying the PS5 version to play with friends, factor PS Plus into your budget as a required cost. If you’re playing solo, you don’t need it.
The Game Pass catalogue has no bearing on PlayStation — these are separate ecosystems, and the game being part of an Xbox subscription doesn’t affect its price on the PlayStation Store.
What about playing together
Two things need to be kept separate here.
PS5. We have direct confirmation from the store page on co-op: online play for up to 4 players is supported, and it requires PS Plus.
PC and Xbox. The official sources we used say nothing about player counts or online conditions on these platforms. So we’re not carrying the “4 players” figure over to them — it applies specifically to the PS5 store page. If co-op and running your own server is what you’re after, our separate guide on multiplayer and servers covers that in detail.
What we don’t claim
This is probably the most useful part of this piece, because it’s exactly where guesswork tends to creep in.
- Subscription prices. We give no figures for Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass or PS Plus. Our sources don’t include them.
- How long the game will stay in Game Pass. It’s confirmed that it was added. No one has announced how long it will remain in the catalogue.
- Prices in other regions. ₴600 is the Steam price, $29.99 is the PlayStation Store price. We won’t convert one into the other or guess a price for any other storefront.
- Standalone Xbox console purchase. All we officially know is that the game is included in three subscriptions. Our sources are silent on a separate price for Xbox.
- Discounts, bundles, regional promotions. Unconfirmed — not mentioned here.
- Paid additional content. That’s a separate topic, covered in our guide to DLC and purchases. This piece only deals with access to the base game.
How to decide in five minutes
- Check what you’re already paying for. Active Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or PC Game Pass? Question closed — the game is available with no extra purchase. You can stop reading here.
- Identify your main platform. Playing on PS5? Your only route is a PlayStation Store purchase for $29.99. Playing on PC? It’s a choice between Steam and PC Game Pass.
- On PC, decide between owning and accessing. ₴600 on Steam means the game is yours. A subscription means it’s accessible for as long as you keep paying. If you’re unsure whether the game will hold your attention long-term, a subscription is the safer first step.
- Check your hardware before you pay, not after. Especially on PC.
- Factor in co-op. On PS5, online play for up to 4 players requires PS Plus — that’s an extra line item if you’re buying the game to play with friends.
- Once you’ve bought it, open the beginner’s guide. The first hours in Palworld are about gathering resources, building a base and catching your first Pals; our first steps guide will help you get oriented.
Common mistakes when choosing
“I’ll get it on PS5 because it works out cheaper.” Comparing ₴600 and $29.99 directly doesn’t tell you much — they’re different currencies from different storefronts. Pick your platform based on what you actually play on, not an exchange-rate guess.
“Game Pass is the same purchase, just paid off in instalments.” No. A subscription gives you access for as long as it’s active. That’s not a worse or better deal — it’s a different model, and it works well specifically when you want to try the game out.
“I’ll buy it on PS5 but also play it on PC.” A PlayStation Store purchase is the PS5 version. It doesn’t grant access on PC.
In short
There are three routes: Steam for ₴600, the Game Pass Ultimate / Premium / PC Game Pass subscriptions, which have included the game at no extra cost since 10 July, and the PlayStation Store for $29.99 on PS5. If you’ve already got a subscription, get the game there; if not, pick the storefront that matches your main platform, and budget for PS Plus as well if you want to play online on PS5.
