GTA 6 Music: What Rockstar Has Confirmed

A great deal gets written about the music in GTA 6. Very little of it has been officially confirmed — and that gap is the thing worth keeping in mind.

Rockstar has published exactly two music credits — one for each full trailer. That is the whole list. No radio stations, no DJs, no track list, no soundtrack release date have been announced. Below is what we measured ourselves on 14 August 2026, and what simply does not exist in the official sources.

The two songs Rockstar named itself

Trailer 1 — Love Is A Long Road, Tom Petty

The trailer runs 1 minute 30 seconds. At the time we checked, it had over 288 million views.

Trailer 2 — Hot Together, The Pointer Sisters

That trailer runs 2 minutes 47 seconds. In the same description Rockstar notes separately that the trailer was “captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5”, split evenly between gameplay and cutscenes.

Where Rockstar publishes music credits, and where it does not

This matters, because it is the source of most of the confusion.

The conclusion is simple: Rockstar publishes its music credits only in YouTube video descriptions. They are not on Newswire and not on the game’s own site. So whenever a “full list of confirmed GTA 6 songs” turns up somewhere, it has almost certainly been assembled from something other than official sources.

⚠️ We checked the official media library separately: it holds 11 videos — the cover art animation, the two trailers and eight short character clips. Rockstar publishes no music credits under the character clips.

About the “six officially confirmed songs” claim

You will run into that claim online. We do not repeat it: each trailer description credits exactly one song, and that is visible in the source itself. How many pieces of music can actually be heard in the trailers is a different question — but “officially confirmed” applies only to published credits, and there are two of them.

Music is already part of the GTA 6 story

This is probably the most interesting thing that genuinely is confirmed. On the official character page Rockstar describes at least three people whose lives revolve around the Vice City music industry. In our own words:

• Boobie Ike — a local legend whose legitimate businesses include real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. The partnership he has invested the most in is a label he runs with an ambitious music producer.
• Dre’Quan Priest — that producer. Breaking into music was his goal from the start; he built the label Only Raw Records and is now aiming at more than booking acts into his partner’s club.
• Real Dimez — a rap duo, Bae-Luxe and Roxy, friends since high school. They started out running street schemes, which they turned into tracks and a relentless social media presence. An early hit with local rapper DWNPLY took them to a new level; five years on they are signed to Only Raw Records.

Will you be able to load in your own music?

It is a popular question, and the honest answer is we do not know.

There is a precedent at Rockstar: in April 2015 the company published a post describing Self Radio in GTA V for PC — your own radio station built from your own audio files, dropped into a dedicated user folder. The feature was PC-only.

For GTA 6 this has no practical meaning yet, for a simple reason: there is no PC version at launch at all. The details are in our piece on the GTA 6 PC version. Rockstar has announced no Self Radio equivalent for GTA 6.

What has NOT been announced — as of 14.08.2026

• Radio stations. No names, no count, no genres.
• DJs and hosts. Not one name.
• A track list. Neither complete nor partial.
• A composer or original score credit. Not named.
• A soundtrack as a separate release. No album, no record, no date.
• Whether the trailer songs will be in the game. Rockstar has not said so.
• Whether user music will be supported. Not mentioned anywhere.

The official game site carries no music section whatsoever. We went through all of its sections: An Extended Look, Trailer 2, Trailer 1, Ultimate Edition, Vintage Vice City Pack, Only in Leonida, the media library, featured news. Music is not among them.

What was measured here, and what we worked out ourselves

Measured (official pages read on 14.08.2026):

• the descriptions of three official videos on the Rockstar Games channel — the two trailers and the Extended Look teaser — including the full music credits on the first two;
• two Newswire posts, on Trailer 2 and on An Extended Look, checked for music credits;
• every section of the official game page, and the complete 11-video inventory in the media library;
• the official character descriptions on the Only in Leonida page;
• the Rockstar Newswire post about Self Radio in GTA V for PC, 15 April 2015.

Our conclusion, not a quote from Rockstar: the statement that the company publishes music credits exclusively in YouTube video descriptions. Rockstar never phrased it that way — we compared where the credits are with where they are not.

What we cannot claim

• That there are exactly two songs in the trailers. We counted published credits, not the audio track. A trailer can also carry background music with no separate credit.
• That these songs will be in the game. A trailer credit is a licence for the trailer. Rockstar has not promised them on any in-game station.
• The release years of these songs, or the albums they come from. We are deliberately leaving those out: they are not in the official credit, and we are not going to guess.
• That nothing will change after 27 August. The extended look may well include a music segment — we will break it down after the fact, not in advance. The date and time are in our piece on the GTA 6 release date.
• How music will work in an online mode. Nothing has been announced about that mode at all — see GTA 6 online.

The short version

Officially, three things are known about GTA 6’s music: two named songs in the trailers, a complete absence of information about radio and the soundtrack, and the fact that the Vice City music business is a story line rather than background. Everything else you will meet under the heading “GTA 6 station list” is guesswork until Rockstar says otherwise.
