Palworld 1.0.3: what changed in the balance update
Contents
Palworld update 1.0.3 lowered the unlock levels for the Jetragon and Aquatic Construction Kit technologies, made crude oil extraction easier, changed World Tree Holy Water, and added a new server setting.
When update 1.0.3 came out
The update, officially titled “v1.0.3: Balance Adjustments & Bug Fixes”, came out on 12 August 2026 — announced through the developer’s official Steam channel. The version number is 1.0.3.
The patch notes are split into sections: items and equipment, bases and missions, server settings, graphics and display, sound, crashes and progression blockers, multiplayer and co-op, and Pals and NPCs. Below is what actually changed, based on those notes. For the sound, crashes and multiplayer sections, the developers only listed the section title without describing specific fixes — what exactly was addressed there isn’t in the official text.
Technology: Jetragon and the Aquatic Construction Kit
The most noticeable balance change concerns the levels at which certain technologies unlock.
- The unlock level for Jetragon-related technologies dropped from 79 to 70. The developers also trimmed down the materials needed for the Pal Gear used to ride Jetragon, though they didn’t say by how much.
- The Aquatic Construction Kit now unlocks at level 23 instead of 66, and its Ancient Technology Point requirement fell from 4 to 1. The required materials and work amount for crafting it were adjusted too, but no exact figures appear in the notes.
Both changes point the same way: these technologies become reachable earlier in a playthrough. If you’re mapping out your progress through the tech tree, we cover the full system in our Palworld technology tree guide.
World Tree Holy Water: lasts longer, weighs less, easier to get
World Tree Holy Water received several changes at once:
- Its duration was extended, though the notes don’t say by how much.
- Its weight was cut from 1 to 0.1.
- It was added to the rewards for World Tree expeditions, World Tree fishing, and the Large Fishing Pond.
- The amount obtained from Pals in the World Tree area went up.
- The amount obtained from Teafant Spring went up too.
The developers didn’t specify by how much the amounts grew in those last two points — only the direction of the change.
Resources and base building
Several changes affect resource gathering and construction:
- The work amount needed to craft the Ancient Armor series was adjusted.
- The amount of Fiber obtained from trees was doubled.
- Building costs for the Crude Oil Extractor, High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor, and Large Power Generator were reduced.
- Crude oil production speed for the Crude Oil Extractor and High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor was increased.
- The base mission that requires building a Crude Oil Extractor can now also be completed by building a High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor instead.
No exact figures are given for the building costs, production speed, or the Ancient Armor work amount — only the direction of each change. If you’re still setting up your first camp, the general principles are covered in our Palworld base building guide.
Server: new bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp setting
A new option appeared under server settings: bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp. It disables the suppression of enemy camp spawns near a player’s base camp. This mainly matters to dedicated server owners — more on configuring one in our Palworld multiplayer and dedicated server guide.
Minor display fix
One more change from the graphics section: the zone boundary lines in some areas are now easier to spot from a distance. It doesn’t affect gameplay directly, only how clearly a zone’s edge shows up on screen.
What’s missing from the notes
We’re deliberately not adding anything the source doesn’t contain:
- No exact figures for most of the balance changes: building costs, oil production speed, the amount of World Tree Holy Water from Pals and Teafant Spring, or the work amount for Ancient Armor and the Aquatic Construction Kit.
- No description of what exactly was fixed in the sound, crashes and progression blockers, or multiplayer and co-op sections — the notes only give the section title there.
- No mention of new Pals, new locations, or story content — this is a balance and bug-fix update, not a content update.
You can check everything yourself in the official 1.0.3 patch notes or the Palworld update feed on Steam — links to both sources are listed below the article.
In short
Update 1.0.3 is about balance and fixes, not new content: it’s easier to unlock the Jetragon and Aquatic Construction Kit technologies, oil extraction is simpler, World Tree Holy Water is more convenient, and there’s a new server setting for enemy spawns.
