Palworld Bags and Feed Boxes: Official Item Names
Contents
Palworld’s inventory pouches are called Small Pouch, Medium Pouch, Large Pouch and Giant Pouch, while the pal feeders are Small Feed Bag, Average Feed Bag, Large Feed Bag, Huge Feed Bag, Giant Feed Bag, plus the separate Feed Box and Cold Food Box. These are all official names from Pocketpair’s technology table, and the name itself is the fastest way to tell them apart — faster than any description would be.
Below is the full list, the logic behind the naming, and an honest line between what this source tells you and what it simply doesn’t cover.
Where this list comes from, and why that matters
The names come from Pocketpair’s official documentation for the Palworld dedicated server — specifically the technologyids page, which pairs each technology with its internal identifier. The documentation itself is called the “Palworld Server Guide” and has a version switcher; at the time this list was compiled, the current documentation version was 1.0.3.
Palworld is developed and published by Pocketpair, a Japanese studio: the game’s Steam page lists it as both Developer and Publisher. In other words, this is a primary source, not a fan wiki.
Keep one thing in mind as you read the rest of this piece: this page gives you naming, not stats. It answers “what is the item called and what’s its identifier” — not “how many slots does it add,” “what does it craft from,” “what level unlocks it,” or “how much does it weigh.” So you won’t find numbers like that here, not exact ones and not rough ones either.
Inventory pouches: Small to Giant
The official technology table lists these entries as follows:
| In-game name | Identifier | What the name tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Small Pouch | AdditionalInventory_001 | “small pouch,” the first step |
| Medium Pouch | AdditionalInventory_002 | “medium pouch” |
| Large Pouch | AdditionalInventory_003 | “large pouch” |
| Giant Pouch | AdditionalInventory_004 | “giant pouch,” the last step in the list |
This one’s straightforward, and the Small → Medium → Large → Giant scale matches what you’d expect intuitively. The identifier mirrors the same sequence with a number: 001, 002, 003, 004.
The word “AdditionalInventory” in the identifier translates literally to “extra inventory.” That’s a description of the name, not of the mechanic — the documentation doesn’t explain how the item actually works.
Pal feeders: Feed Bag from Tier1 to Tier5
The second group has its own scale — and it does NOT match the pouch scale:
| In-game name | Identifier |
|---|---|
| Small Feed Bag | AutoMealPouch_Tier1 |
| Average Feed Bag | AutoMealPouch_Tier2 |
| Large Feed Bag | AutoMealPouch_Tier3 |
| Huge Feed Bag | AutoMealPouch_Tier4 |
| Giant Feed Bag | AutoMealPouch_Tier5 |
Two things worth flagging.
First, the second step here is Average, not Medium. This is the main trap if you’re scanning the technology list by eye: pouches use one word for the “medium” tier, feeders use another. If you go looking for “Medium Feed Bag,” you won’t find it — that name isn’t in the official list.
Second, the feeder scale is longer: Huge sits between Large and Giant. So Giant Feed Bag isn’t the equivalent of Giant Pouch by “step number” — it’s simply the top entry of its own separate line-up.
The identifier “AutoMealPouch” literally reads as “automatic-feeding pouch,” and Tier1…Tier5 is a direct level number. Again, this is just unpacking the words in the name, not describing the effect.
Feed Box and Cold Food Box: a pair of their own
Two more entries in the same list sit outside both scales:
| In-game name | Identifier |
|---|---|
| Feed Box | PalFoodBox |
| Cold Food Box | CoolerPalFoodBox |
The simplest pattern in this whole naming set applies here: a base name versus the same name with an extra word tacked on. Feed Box is the base entry. Cold Food Box is the variant with “Cold” added, and the identifier follows the same logic: PalFoodBox becomes CoolerPalFoodBox, with “Cooler” prepended to the base identifier.
If you’ve ever come across a “regular version / cold version” pair in Palworld, this is what it looks like in the official naming. What the “cold” version actually does isn’t covered in the documentation, and we’re not guessing.
How to tell these items apart by name: three rules
- Look at the second word, not the first. Pouch is about your own inventory. Feed Bag and Food Box are about feeding your pals. “Small” on its own tells you nothing: Small Pouch and Small Feed Bag belong to entirely different lines.
- Compare the scale within a line, not across lines. Pouches: Small → Medium → Large → Giant. Feed bags: Small → Average → Large → Huge → Giant. The word “Large” means a different position relative to the top in each list.
- A word added at the front means a variant of the same item. Cold Food Box is a Feed Box with an extra qualifier in the name, and it’s even clearer in the identifier than in the name itself.

What we’re NOT claiming
This is the most important section in the piece, and it’s longer than we’d like.
- There are no Mega, Giga, Hyper or Ultra tiers in this list of pouches and feeders. If you’re looking for a “Mega Pouch” or an “Ultra Feed Bag,” we didn’t find entries like that in the official set of names covered here.
- There are no “heat-resistant” versions of pouches or feeders in this list. There’s the Feed Box / Cold Food Box pair — and that’s the extent of any “temperature” variants in our source.
- None of these pouches or feeders are named after specific pals. Every name here is descriptive: size, type, one distinguishing trait.
- There are no numbers at all about the items themselves. How many slots a Giant Pouch adds, how much food a Huge Feed Bag holds, what a Cold Food Box costs, how long it takes to craft — none of that is in the source, and we’re not inventing it.
- There are no unlock levels. The technologyids page doesn’t tie a technology to a character level.
- There are no materials or crafting recipes. No resource lists, no quantities.
- There’s no “best build” or tier ranking. The Tier1…Tier5 order is the numbering used in the official identifier, not our judgement of usefulness.
If you come across a site that confidently states exact slot counts or capacities, that’s not coming from this documentation page. We don’t repeat fan-wiki numbers and pass them off as official.
What order these items show up in as you play
The honest answer: we can’t establish the exact unlock order from this source, because it has no unlock levels. But the naming itself gives a reliable hint, and it works the same way for both lines.
Within the pouch line, the order follows the identifier number: AdditionalInventory_001 → _002 → _003 → _004, i.e. Small Pouch, then Medium Pouch, then Large Pouch and Giant Pouch. Within the feeder line, the order follows the word Tier in the identifier itself: AutoMealPouch_Tier1 → Tier2 → Tier3 → Tier4 → Tier5, i.e. Small Feed Bag, Average Feed Bag, Large Feed Bag, Huge Feed Bag, Giant Feed Bag.
What doesn’t follow from this: that Small Pouch and Small Feed Bag unlock at the same time, that the Tier3 feeder sits “roughly where” Large Pouch does, or that Cold Food Box comes after Feed Box. That last one looks likely from the name, but likely isn’t the same as confirmed, so we’re leaving it unstated.
In practice, that means: track the sequence within each line, and check what’s actually available in-game as you go. If you’ve just started and are still getting a handle on the basics, you’re better off starting with your first steps and base building than chasing the top-tier pouches straight away.
One more thing: if you’re running your own server, this is the same documentation section you’ll come back to for identifiers. We’ve also got a separate guide to the server itself.
In short
Inventory pouches run Small → Medium → Large → Giant (AdditionalInventory_001–004), feed bags run Small → Average → Large → Huge → Giant (AutoMealPouch_Tier1–Tier5), and the Feed Box with its “cold” counterpart Cold Food Box sit apart from both. Pocketpair’s official documentation gives only these names and identifiers — no slot counts, unlock levels, recipes or prices — so neither do we.
Frequently asked questions
How many inventory pouches are there in Palworld and what are they called?
The official technology table lists Small Pouch, Medium Pouch, Large Pouch and Giant Pouch. Their internal identifiers are AdditionalInventory_001, _002, _003 and _004 respectively.
What's the difference between a Feed Bag and a Feed Box?
They're separate entries in the official list: the Feed Bag uses identifiers of the form AutoMealPouch_TierN, while the Feed Box uses PalFoodBox. Pocketpair's documentation only gives names and identifiers, so we don't claim anything about each item's mechanics based on it.
What is the Cold Food Box?
It's a separate entry in the official table with the identifier CoolerPalFoodBox. The name points to a "cold" version of the food box, but the documentation doesn't list any stats.
Are there Mega, Giga, Hyper or Ultra tier pouches in Palworld?
Not in the list of bags and feeders we're covering here. It uses a plain word scale: Small → Medium → Large → Giant for pouches, and Small → Average → Large → Huge → Giant for feed bags.
At what level does the Giant Pouch unlock?
This documentation page doesn't include unlock levels — it only maps a technology's name to its identifier. We're not giving unlock levels because the source doesn't have them.
Where do these names come from?
From the technologyids page of Pocketpair's official documentation for the Palworld dedicated server. At the time this list was compiled, the current documentation version was 1.0.3.
