Palworld’s gliders and grappling hooks are ranked by a single word at the front of the name: Normal → Mega → Giga → Hyper, with grappling hooks adding an extra tier, Ultra, on top. This isn’t a guess about balance — it’s how the entries are labelled in the official technology table, and that word alone tells you which version is “higher tier” even the first time you see it.

Below is the full list from our source, how to read these names, and an honest account of what the source does not say.

Where this list comes from

The names come from Pocketpair’s official documentation for the Palworld dedicated server — specifically the technologyids page, where each technology is matched to its internal identifier. The documentation itself is called the “Palworld Server Guide” and has a version switcher; at the time this list was compiled, the current documentation version was 1.0.3.

This matters because it sets clear limits on what you’ll find here and what you won’t:

  • Server documentation is a naming reference. It exists so an administrator can call up an item in a configuration file using the correct string.
  • It does not describe stats. There’s no glide speed, no hook range, no weight, no crafting recipe, no unlock level.

So this piece answers “what’s it called, and how does one differ from another by name” — not “which one should I get.” Our sources simply don’t cover the second question. If you want the mechanics behind the technology system itself, see our separate guide on Palworld technology.

For context: Palworld is developed and published by the Japanese studio Pocketpair — its Steam store page lists Pocketpair as both Developer and Publisher. That makes the documentation at docs.palworldgame.com a primary source from the developer, not a fan resource.

Gliders: the Battle_Glider row

The official technology table names these entries as follows:

In-game name Identifier
Normal Parachute Battle_Glider_Grade_01
Mega Glider Battle_Glider_Grade_02
Giga Glider Battle_Glider_Grade_03
Hyper Glider Battle_Glider_Grade_04

What this table shows without any guesswork:

The first item is named differently from the rest. Normal Parachute is called a “parachute,” not a “glider,” even though its identifier still puts it in the Battle_Glider family. So internally the game treats it as the same equipment type, while giving it a distinct name.

The word Grade plus a number marks the tier directly. Normal Parachute carries the lowest mark in this row, Hyper Glider the highest of those listed. That gives you a simple rule of thumb: the “louder” the prefix in the name, the later the number in the internal string.

The prefix order here is: Normal → Mega → Giga → Hyper. That’s the same logic used for grappling hooks, just with one more step in their row.

⚠️ What we’re not claiming: that a higher Grade means better flight performance. It sounds logical, but the server documentation contains no stats, and nobody asked us to fill that gap with a guess.

Grappling hooks: the GrapplingGun row

Here the official table gives these entries:

In-game name Identifier
Grappling Gun GrapplingGun
Mega Grappling Gun GrapplingGun2
Giga Grappling Gun GrapplingGun3
Hyper Grappling Gun GrapplingGun4
Ultra Grappling Gun GrapplingGun5

A few observations that will actually help you keep these straight:

The base item has no number at all. Its identifier is simply GrapplingGun, with no digit attached. So if you’re looking for “GrapplingGun1,” that string doesn’t exist in the list.

The grappling hook row runs one step longer than the glider row. Where gliders stop at Hyper, grappling hooks add one more entry — the Ultra Grappling Gun — and by identifier numbering it sits right after Hyper. It’s the only name in either list that uses the word Ultra.

The item’s core name never changes. It stays “Grappling Gun” across every tier — only the prefix in front changes. That’s convenient: learn the row Mega → Giga → Hyper → Ultra, and you can read any of these names without a reference sheet.

Wing Cell — a separate entry

One more name from the same table is Wing Cell, with the identifier WingGlider_Fuel.

Here we have to be blunt: beyond the name and identifier, our source tells us nothing else about it. We don’t know from the documentation how it’s obtained, what exactly it’s for, or how it relates to the gliders listed above. The identifier includes words pointing to a glider and to fuel, but that’s a string from a technical database, not a description of the mechanic — we won’t build claims about the game on top of it.

That’s what an honest reference answer looks like: the name is known, everything else isn’t.

How to read one of these names the first time you see it

  1. Look at the last word. Glider or Parachute means airborne movement. Grappling Gun means pulling yourself toward a point.
  2. Look at the word in front of it. No prefix, or Normal, marks the base entry in the row. Mega, Giga, Hyper are higher tiers. Ultra only shows up among grappling hooks.
  3. Remember the prefix order: Mega → Giga → Hyper → Ultra. It’s the same for gliders (where the row is shorter) and for grappling hooks.
  4. If you’re working with the server, use the identifier, not the display name. Configuration reads a string like Battle_Glider_Grade_03, not “Giga Glider.” We cover the dedicated server itself in a separate guide.

About progression order

The question “in what order do these show up as you play” comes up naturally, and the honest answer is: the order within each row is clear from the numbering, but our sources don’t tie any of this to game progression.

What we can say with confidence:

  • Within gliders, entries are numbered from Grade_01 through Grade_04 — a sequence set by the table itself.
  • Within grappling hooks, entries run from the number-free GrapplingGun through GrapplingGun5.

What we cannot say:

  • At what level each entry unlocks. The server documentation lists no levels.
  • What or how much crafting each one requires. No recipes or materials appear there.
  • Whether gliders and grappling hooks progress in parallel, or one row runs ahead of the other.

If you’re just starting out and want a general sequence of actions rather than a naming reference, it’s more useful to start with first steps.

What we are not claiming

This is the most useful section in a piece like this, so it gets its own heading.

Our list contains no cold- or heat-resistant glider versions. We’re not saying they don’t exist in the game — we’re saying that within the set of entries we pulled from the official table, no such names appear. We won’t invent them just to fill out a section.

Our list also contains no items named after specific Pals. Same logic: not in the source, not in the piece.

There are no stats at all. No range, no speed, no stamina cost, no defence, no weight, no crafting time, no price. Any article that hands you such numbers while citing “official documentation” isn’t citing the technologyids page.

There are no tier lists or “best build” recommendations. A tier list needs numbers. There are no numbers, so a tier list here would be invented.

There’s no confirmation that these names are permanent. The documentation has a version switcher, and we’re recording its state at version 1.0.3. How Palworld’s updates work in general is covered separately.

In short

Palworld’s gliders run Normal Parachute → Mega Glider → Giga Glider → Hyper Glider, and grappling hooks run Grappling Gun → Mega → Giga → Hyper → Ultra, plus a separate Wing Cell entry; these are the official names from Pocketpair’s server documentation, which gives names and identifiers only — not stats — so we’ve deliberately said nothing here about power, recipes, or unlock levels.

Frequently asked questions

How many gliders exist in Palworld?

The technology list in the official dedicated server documentation includes Normal Parachute, Mega Glider, Giga Glider and Hyper Glider. This is a naming reference, not a guarantee that no other movement items exist in the game — these are simply the only gliders in our source.

What's the difference between Mega Glider and Giga Glider?

Based on the available data, only the name and internal identifier: Battle_Glider_Grade_02 versus Battle_Glider_Grade_03. The documentation gives no numerical stats — speed, height, stamina — so we won't invent any.

Which grappling hook ranks highest by name?

The Ultra Grappling Gun. Its identifier, GrapplingGun5, comes after GrapplingGun4 (Hyper Grappling Gun), making it the last entry in the row's numbering.

What is the Wing Cell?

It's a separate entry in the official technology table with the identifier WingGlider_Fuel. Beyond the name and identifier, our source tells us nothing else about it.

Where can I check this list myself?

On the technologyids page of Pocketpair's documentation for the Palworld dedicated server, where every technology is matched to its internal identifier.

Does the list include cold- or heat-resistant gliders, or Pal-named items?

No such entries appear in the list we used. We're not claiming they exist, nor that they don't — they simply aren't in our source, and we won't invent names to fill the gap.
